On Wednesday, the Indian rupee closed 21 paise lower at 89.78 against the US dollar, compared to its opening level of 89.57.
At the close, the Sensex fell 116.14 points, or 0.14 percent, to 85,408.70, and the Nifty declined 35.05 points, or 0.13 percent, to 26,142.10. Approximately 1,693 shares advanced, 2,154 declined, and 118 remained unchanged.
