Modern Agriculture: In Washim district, work is being done to spread modern cotton cultivation technology under the special cotton cultivation project, on the initiative of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra.

In Washim district, under the initiative of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, work is being done to spread modern cotton cultivation technology under the Special Cotton Crop Project. As a part of this, a Cotton Crop Farming Day program based on modern intensive cotton cultivation technology was organized at Brahmanwada in Karanja taluka.

The program was presided over by KVK senior scientist Dr. Ravindra Kale. Sarpanch Mayatai Munde, Police Patil Rajubhau Munde, Ramesh Munde and former Vice Chairman of the Market Committee Dr. Ashok Rao Munde were present as the chief guests. KVK extension expert Dr. Sudhir Deshmukh, project officer Tushar Deshmukh, home science expert Shubhangi Watane were present as the guides.

Dr. Sudhir Deshmukh guided on the technical aspects required for increasing cotton production, preserving soil health, and sustainable agriculture based on demonstrations from the special cotton crop project.

Tushar Deshmukh gave detailed information on how to get more production and economic benefits from cotton crop by adopting improved high density planting method in light to medium quality soil. He also explained the recommended cropping system for wheat crop in Rabi season after cotton crop, as well as the importance of increasing organic carbon using shredder/kutter machine technology for postharvest management of cotton fields.

Shubhangi Watane guided on value addition based processing industries, establishment of village level agricultural group industries, and agricultural implements and technology useful for women. Farmers also shared their experiences on this occasion.
