(Fibre2Fashion News Desk (KUL): Net sales of Upland cotton in the United States for the 2024-25 season totalled 210,500 running bales (RB), each weighing 226.8 kg (500 pounds), during the week ending February 27, 2025. 

This represents an increase of 45 per cent from the previous week and 6 per cent from the prior four-week average. US cotton export shipments were also higher than in the previous week.

US Upland cotton sales rose 45 per cent to 210,500 running bales, with strong demand from Vietnam, China, Pakistan, and Türkiye.

Export shipments hit a marketing year high of 334,000 bales, up 25 per cent from the previous week.

However, Pima cotton sales fell 51 per cent to 10,900 bales, with exports down 60 per cent.

Despite weaker Pima demand, overall US cotton exports remained robust.

The increases were primarily for Vietnam (73,100 RB, including 6,500 RB switched from China and 200 RB switched from South Korea), China (46,800 RB), Pakistan (32,600 RB, including decreases of 1,200 RB), Türkiye (32,000 RB), and Thailand (18,900 RB, including decreases of 200 RB).

Net sales of 105,600 RB for 2025-26 for the week were primarily for Pakistan (75,500 RB), Nicaragua (15,900 RB), Türkiye (11,100 RB), and Vietnam (2,200 RB).

The export shipment of 334,000 RB—a marketing year high—was up 25 per cent from the previous week and 28 per cent from the prior four-week average. The destinations were primarily Vietnam (100,100 RB), Pakistan (65,400 RB), Türkiye (46,000 RB), China (23,100 RB), and Bangladesh (17,700 RB).

Net sales of Pima totalling 10,900 RB for 2024-25 were down 51 per cent from the previous week and 12 per cent from the prior four-week average. Increases were primarily for India (4,000 RB, including decreases of 400 RB), China (3,900 RB), Pakistan (1,100 RB), Hong Kong (700 RB), and Colombia (300 RB). 

Export shipment of 4,000 RB was down 60 per cent from the previous week and 52 per cent from the prior four-week average. The destinations were primarily India (2,100 RB), Thailand (600 RB), Türkiye (400 RB), Vietnam (400 RB), and Guatemala (300 RB). (Source: Fibre2Fashion.com)
